L’information est tombée ce week-end : Pape Diouf est désormais représenté aux Etats-Unis par la réputée agence ALIAPROD. Son premier représentant direct et exclusif en terre américaine, Birane Sarr, patron du label New African Production, partenaire de Prince Art, a signé un accord avec ALIAPROD, la réputée agence basée en Amérique du Nord, administrée par un professeur de Sociologie.

C’est une nouvelle ligne que l’enfant de la banlieue de Dakar va franchir. Les portes de la world music s’ouvrent ainsi pour le poulain de Lamine Faye. Un travail de longue haleine aboutit à ce résultat pour un pas de plus.
ALIAPROD a pour mission de gérer toutes les prestations de l’artiste aux Etats-Unis, et de vendre son image dans les plus grands festivals du monde. Dorénavant, pour les tournées américaines et dans le circuit de la World music, Pape Diouf attendra le signal de l’agence pour ses déplacements. Par ailleurs, il partage l’agence avec de grands noms de la musique du monde comme l’angolais Paolo Flores, l’égyptien Tarek Abdallah and Adel Shams El-Din, Custodio Castelo, le grand guitariste portugais, le Xalam 2, mythique groupe africain, Aruan Ortiz, le génial pianiste cubain, entre autres.
L’artiste chanteur a fait part de son immense joie, pour avouer le pas de géant fait jusqu’ici. Au su de la nouvelle, il ne pouvait s’en cacher et a tenu à révéler qu’il ne s’attendait pas à moins et que le meilleur reste à venir. « Je suis très heureux d’apprendre qu’une agence va s’occuper de mes productions et prestations aux Etats-Unis et jusqu’en Australie. C’est le fruit de plusieurs années de travail et de sacrifices », confie-t-il.
L’histoire a démarré officiellement en 1995, avec la chanson « Cocorico » sous Le Lemzo Diamono Group, avec le génie de Lamine Faye. Après cette sortie, plus rien. Le garçon doit faire face à une longue période de « vache maigre ». Dignement.
Durant quatre années, Pape Diouf va vraiment galérer. Mais, un fort caractère de papa, une tendresse maternelle unique, une pression positive sur sa tête comme l’épée de Damoclès le pousse à presque forcer son destin.

Pape Diouf:
Pape Cheikh Diouf is one of the most important new voices in contemporary Senegalese music. More than just a prolific hit maker, he draws on his family’s guewel (griot) traditions to sing about love, life lessons and the Wolof ideal of « teranga » – mutual respect, acceptance and hospitality that’s at the core of Senegalese life. A veteran of the Lemzo Diamono Group, Pape Diouf made his solo recording debut in 1998, and, with the help of his band, Ia Gènèration Conciente, has revitalized Dakar’s classic m’balax sound ever since. His moving songs, captivating voice and chari smatic stage presence have earned him a string of hits, culminating in 2011’s « Grand Begue », which made him a bona fide superstar in West Africa – and garnered him more than a few comparisons to the great Youssou N’Dour (Diouf often headlines at N’Dour’s legendary Club Thiossane in Dakar, as well). Now Diouf has set his sights on North America, with plans to tour in summer 2016.
Xalam2:
Legendary Senegalese musical pioneers Xalam – who blazed a new path for their country’s irresistible m’balax dance sound in the ’70s and ’80s – have been reborn for the new century as Xalam2. One of the first Senegalese bands to introduce jazz, rock and funk into the music, Xalam helped expand the musical palette of the emerging m’balax sound, staking out a place alongside the Star Band, Orchestra Baobab and Étoile de Dakar as one of the greatest bands of Senegal’s postindependence musical explosion. By the time Xalam went on hiatus in the 1990s, they had released seven studio albums (and numerous cassettes), toured the world, and played with everyone from Hugh Masekela and Miriam Makeba to Crosby, Stills & Nash and The Rolling Stones to Dizzy Gillespie and Sonny Rollins. Now Xalam2 returns to international stages with a new album – Waxati- and a familiar lineup: Henri Guillabert (keyboard), lbrahima Coundoul (vocals, percussion), Abdoulaye (Ablo) Zon (drum), Souleymane Faye (vocals), Cheikh Tidiane Tall (guitar), Moustapha Cisse (percussion, vocals), Papa Moussa Babou (bass), Wilfrid Zinsou (trombone, Sax).
